The Bible is definitively and without question centered upon God. While it seems as if the whole world looks at the Bible as man-centered, it is not. Man desperately wants to have God centered upon man and basically do as man pleases, this is to twist the Scriptures until they are backward of the chief goal of them. God has made all things for Himself and His own glory. The whole purpose of man is to be an instrument of God’s glory and not the glory of man. The true God sits in the heavens and does all His pleasure (Psalm 115). The will of God cannot bee thwarted by man in the slightest.
The living God is thrice holy and for Him His holiness is to do all for His own glory. He cannot have a higher or greater goal than Himself. He cannot have a higher or greater love than Himself. The whole earth is full of His glory and there are beings around His throne singing “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty” day and night. Heaven is full of the glory of God and that abundant and overflowing glory is why He has created the world and all things in it. God has displayed His beauty and glory in the creation of all things. “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). The very definition of sin is that man does not glorify God.
The Great Commandment is for man to love God with his whole heart, mind, soul, and strength. Flowing from that is the command that “Whether, then, you eat, drink, or whatever you do do all to the glory of God” (I Cor 10:31). This surely shows us that the purpose of man is to be an instrument of the glory of God. Man will only find his true purpose and joy in life when he finds the grace of God which delivers him from doing things for his own glory and starts being an instrument of God’s glory in the world. How backwards man is.
